Link trades and SEO

I have found that link trades are useless in SEO because the technique is clearly used to try to game the search engine to get high rankings. Google is well aware of this practice and frowns upon it, especially the sites that have link farm pages with hundreds of unrelated links. Anybody still doing link trades and building link farms is asking to have their domain banned by Google.

In my SEO work I have found that getting 1-way links and putting keywords in your title tag is the top way to get high rankings. Therefore, I write articles for article directories, I post online press releases using services like prweb, and I make blog posts that include anchor text links for the search terms I want to rank for. Doing this has kept me in the top 5 results on Google for over 4 years. I started SEO four years ago doing the link farm strategy and I found that google ignores my link trades with other websites, especially sites with large link farms. In summary, link trading is in my opinion a complete waste of time and money and a good way to get your domain banned.
